ABOUT JOSEPH

Joseph Washington, PharmD, MPH, is a Research Fellow in Health Outcomes and Market Access with Xcenda/AmerisourceBergen. During this 2-year, degree-granting fellowship Dr. Washington leads projects in diverse disease areas and collaborates with many of the world’s leading pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and diagnostic companies.

Before joining Xcenda/AmerisourceBergen, Dr. Washington completed his undergraduate education at Santa Fe State College, where he was the first student to develop and complete the pre-pharmacy track and a Hall of Fame inductee within the institution.

Upon acceptance into the University of Florida College of Pharmacy, he immersed himself in leadership development opportunities. First, as the trip leader for a medical outreach to Mexico, where he and his team provided medication reconciliation to over 900 community members. During this time, he was notably elected to be the 48th National President of the Student National Pharmaceutical Association, where he led over 5000 student pharmacists across the country.

During the 117th Congress Dr. Washington served as a Health Policy Fellow in the United States House of Representatives; working with congressional staffers to develop the procurement and distribution strategy for COVID-19 vaccines in Florida District 9.

Dr. Washington graduated with a Master’s in Pharmaceutical Outcomes & Policy with a concentration in Applied Pharmacoeconomics from the University of Florida.

Throughout his collegiate and professional career, Dr. Washington has been inducted into various honorary societies and awarded for his dedication to service and servant leadership.

Dr. Washington leverages his experiences and education to empower others and continues to do so through presentations and speaking engagements with well-recognized institutions and organizational events, including the University of Florida, the University of South Carolina, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the Student National Pharmaceutical Association, the Achievers, and the National Pharmaceutical Association.
